OK, we know it’s a bit of a cliché but it’s true – you’re
never too old to learn.
According to official statistics, there are now over 600,000 learners
over the age of 60 and more than 6 million over 50s are in employment.
It’s never too late to change career, get new skills or study something new.
As an older learner, you have so much to offer. You tend to be more reliable, motivated and keen to learn. Your knowledge and experience is a real asset to other learners, especially younger ones. And you make more loyal employees - over 50s tend to stay in a job for an average of 13 years.
Learning could be to top up your skills or gain a qualification. Equally, it could be purely for fun. Any type of study keeps you mentally active and alert, and we’re always told about the healthy mind, healthy body benefits. Plus it’s a great way to make new friends.
