Training for Centre Staff

<< back

In order to be a Learning Gateway at least one of your staff team must complete the Learning Gateways Training programme. This is an essential part of the Learning Gateways process.

What will the training cover?
The Learning Gateways team, in conjunction with ‘Inspire’ - the deliverers of the training - have developed bespoke training modules which you and your staff can access.

These modules cover the following topics:

  • Customer Care
  • Information, Advice and Guidance
  • Understanding Quality Assurance Framework Procedures
  • Planning for Improvement
  • Enhancing your Learning Gateways Service

Once your centre has been initially approved to begin the Learning Gateways engagement process you will be approached regarding the training programme.

What can I expect when I attend the training?
The training is modular based and is delivered utilising a variety of methods to ensure different learning styles are catered for. Your tutor will assess the work you do and alongside the teaching, offer support and advice about completing the programme of training. Your tutor will also be there to answer any of the questions you may have throughout the course.

You will be expected to attend two taught workshops, with remaining modules being completed in your own time as negotiated with your manager.

If you are a centre manager you may be wondering what will the training do for your staff
All the training modules are linked to nationally recognised qualifications. Your staff are therefore developing their own skills at the same time as learning how to bring out the best in other people and do the best for your centre as a whole.

The training will draw on best practice and because of the bespoke nature of the training the focus is therefore on Doncaster, which means staff will easily be able to relate to the training being given and in return relate this back to your centre. The flexibility allowed for those participating means that the staff can learn in and around their current role and all of the information provided will be clear and jargon free.
